SysML Consultant
|
|
-
Task:
-
The focus in this project was on domain analysis and the development of an UML profile based on SysML.
Additionally, programmers and system engineers needed to be trained to use Enterprise Architect for their daily work.
To support that, a business process was developed and introduced.
Furthermore the configuration management for Enterprise Architect needed to be set up. This included deployment
of MySQL and later MS SQL Server. ClearCase was used to take nightly model snapshots of the model. The checkout
scheme did not work well for several reasons.
To get requirements in synch with DOORS in the ways the customer demanded, it was necessary to implement
an export routine on the DOORS side and an add-in for Enterprise Architect.
To fulfill the very specific documentation requirements, an add-in was developed which produced PDF from LaTeX files.

The Yellow Pages in Denmark (De Gule Sider) had to replace their DMS solution in consequence of a restructuring.
SAPERION was chosen above an exising FileNet implentation. Here the emphasis was on:
- Migration of existing document into the target system.
- Analysis of the business processes (BPA; predominantly within advertisement service).
- Architecture and implementation of the target system.
- Interface to a new Scan solution.
- Preparation for training.
For analysis and Design the UML 2.0-Tool Enterprise Architect was used.
The project has been finished successfully with prospect to a version 2 to come.

The requirements for a DMS system to implement DOMEA (German Public Sector DMS Requirements
Catalog with about 700 requirements and a detailed description of various business processes)
were analyzed and the target system architecture was designed. A sub-contractor was given the
task to implement the system accordingly. The initial UML 1.2 based architecture design
(created with Rational Rose) was transferred to UML 2.0 using Enterprise Architect.
This tool was also chosen to perform the Requirements Management.

In this project it was important to define the project goals correctly.
The initial requirement "replace ACT! using an internal tool"
was recognized to be incorrect. A detailed OO based Business Process Analysis revealed
that Navision served better as the new CRM tool. In the course of the project a detailed Business Process Analysis was
performed using the UML 1.2 tool Enterprise Architect. Further the existing CRM data were migrated
from ACT! to Navision and a Web-Interface was implemented to support field agents.

Within the environment of the bank-internal Internet architecture (Windows NT/MS SQL Server/IIS) the
credit rating program was implemented according to the previously prepared specifications.
The business processes which had been documented using ARIS were transformed into a Use Case model.
Using Rational Rose this model was transformed into an architectural design model.
Another task was the project management of a 15 staff development team,

the rest was located in Bucharest.

During this project it was necessary to firstly analyze the existing software controlling a high rack store.
Later it turned out that the store needed to be restructured in hard- and software.
Here a simulation proofed the new hardware (new robot to take single, double and triple
Euro palettes plus conveyor) in theory. Next a hardware supplier for a new S5 controller needed to be chosen.
The high rack store control software needed to be adjusted accordingly. The strategy for the stock
was optimized. This also involved the production planning and control system on a S/390.

Based on IBM's public domain CP/370 kernel a virtual machine was developed to serve an (almost)
native BS2000. The deployed hardware supported the complete 370 instruction set on a single board
(mini mainframe). I/O requests were served on a UNIX system running in parallel. This I/O server
simulated a standard DASD and also a 3270 stream. The task was to extend and adapt the IO-handler

The implementation of a complete Modula-2 compiler under CP/CMS on an IBM/370 was subject of my thesis.
Bootstrapping was done using a re-implementation of the Modula-2 compiler in Pascal-VS since both languages
are very similar. Therefore a cross-compiler was implemented. The produced intermediate code (M-Code) was
already executable with an also implemented interpreter. The next step was the native code generation for
/370. Now the compiler could be compiled by itself. Additionally a complete library system was implemented
to support the object oriented possibilities of Modula-2 (here separation of interface and realization).

This project dealt with data recording in a frozen foods sales vehicle. On a HP200 systems under Pascal
two integrated applications were realized. On the one hand a set of data recorded
during the sales tour (e.g. door openings, temperature, travel route, etc.) were logged on cassette tape.
These data were transferred to an ITT mainframe using a black box simulating a 3270 data stream. On the
other hand a menu system was implemented to allow the sales driver to dynamically assemble the vehicle
load and route which later could be displayed in the vehicle.
